Dear Second Grade Parent or Guardian,

I hope everyone enjoyed the first week of school! If you’d like to send a water bottle with your child, please do so. Please remind your child to use the restroom breaks that they are given periodically.

Spelling Words for this week have been sent home. We are studying the short a and short i vowel sounds. We will be working with these words, your child will be putting them in abc order, spelling them, and using them in a sentence properly. We will take the test Friday.

We will dismiss at 2:30 on Friday for Labor Day weekend. We will resume school on Tuesday, Sept 5th.

Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest. Some of the kids are still transitioning to routine and schedule and look very tired by the end of the day.

Lunch Menu: Tues- Nachos/cheese/meat, Wed-sloppy joe, Thurs-Easy taco, Fri-chicken tenders

Please remember to send any book order money if your child would like to order for September.

We’re going to be working on focusing for longer periods of time and listening carefully this week.

We have had fun learning about tens and ones in Math. We are still working on this concept.

Here is a link to the math website that goes along with our math series: We have played Critter Junction so far!

We are also going to begin sharing Good News every afternoon. If you’d like to send a snack with your child, we have 11 students.

Thanks and have a great week! Remember to email me or call the school if you have any questions at 641-898-2291 ext 1003.  -Miss Miller

Dear Second Grade Parent or Guardian,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring break!

We will have our Spring BRI Reading test and FAST tests coming up in April. This is the final evaluation of your child’s reading in second grade! Please work with them at home on their fluency, accuracy, and comprehension, so that they will be well prepared! I know it’s hard once the weather is nice, so please use this time wisely!

Lunch Menu: Wed-macaroni and cheese, Thurs-chicken tenders, Fri-sloppy joe

We are going to be learning about Place Value to the 1,000 in Math. We finished up Fractions.

We are learning about Technology and Habitats in Science.

Our class field trip will be May 19th. We will be going to Sharon Bluffs and building a birdhouse and learning about animals and then going to Honey Creek to eat lunch and swim with the third graders. I will send home a letter with more details, closer to the time.

Keep up the good work at home. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks!

Please send lunch money and return any overdue books.
