New to Our Team

Michelle Valentine

Michelle Valentine

We are happy to have Michelle on the Seymour staff with her abundant love for teaching and her long tenure in education. She is in her 30th year in teaching. She is excited to be doing her 1st year in Elementary education and, in her first teaching position in Iowa!

Michelle and her husband live on their family farm in Putnam County Missouri where they raised their two children, Jacey, and Ryan. When not teaching at Seymour, she loves to spend time with her family and her alone time with God. She recently finished a project updating her home over the summer. When not working on that project she enjoyed time with her grandson, Oliver.

Her favorite part of teaching is the relationships formed with the students and learning new things right along with them.  She is thankful for her opportunities at Seymour and prays she will serve the children and community well. She is excited about the new adventures and friendships she has ahead of her.

Lisa Umbenhower

Lisa Umbenhower

Seymour School welcomed Lisa to the team in August of 2021. Her passion for teaching was felt on day one, by all! She loves seeing children learn, especially when they take a difficult concept to understanding.

A little bit about Lisa, she lives on a farm in Chariton with her husband Alan. They have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys reading, riding her horse, kayaking and square dancing. She has been in education since 1984 and has taught preschool, kindergarten and first grade, she was also a vision therapist and test administrator and tutor in the field of education.

Lisa is excited to get to know the students, families, and staff at Seymour. She loves teaching and seeing children learn.
