August 24 – First Day of School for K–12
Preschool Orientation Meetings
During the week of August 24, our preschool teachers will meet individually with each family. These 30-minute orientation meetings will give you and your child an opportunity to become familiar with the classroom structure, daily schedule, expectations, and your child’s teacher, while also allowing time to begin building a relationship with the teacher.
The delayed start for preschool allows our teachers time to meet with each family before preschool begins. Your child’s preschool teacher will reach out directly to schedule your orientation meeting.

New Staff Spotlight: Meet Ms. Tymmrie Rath!
We are excited to welcome Ms. Tymmrie Rath to Seymour Community School District as our new K–12 Art Teacher!
Ms. Rath has loved art since before kindergarten, and her passion for creativity eventually led her to pursue a degree in Art Education from Morningside University in Sioux City. After becoming a parent, she realized just how much a caring, passionate teacher can impact a child’s life—and she knew she wanted to become that kind of teacher for all students.
She was drawn to Seymour because of our small-town atmosphere and class sizes, and she felt that Seymour was the perfect fit for her passion for art and education.
This year, Ms. Rath is looking forward to getting students excited about ART, helping them experience and view art in new ways, and making art personal and meaningful for every student. She hopes to promote a lifelong appreciation for the Fine Arts by exposing students to different media, developing their skills, and creating opportunities for students to display their work and compete for awards and recognition.
A few fun facts about Ms. Rath:
-She is an award-winning artist!
- She is a mom of six.
-Her oldest daughter and 10-year-old daughter are also award-winning artists!
-Three of her children—Landen (6th grade), Rheya (Kindergarten), and Ruka (Kindergarten)—will be Seymour students this year!
Ms. Rath also has a big vision for Seymour. She hopes to help create a creative center that supports all artsy endeavors, big and small, and provide opportunities for our students, school, and community to celebrate creativity.

The Jr. High and High School locker rooms have been cleaned out, and we have found a lot of student items that were left behind.
If your student is missing clothing, shoes, athletic gear, or other belongings, please stop by the school and check the items to see if anything belongs to your student.
Any items that are not claimed by the end of Back-to-School Night will be donated.

School Registration and Back-to-School Night Are Just Around The Corner
Seymour Warrior football fans here is the link to purchase some great apparel to wear for the upcoming football season! The store also offers apparel that is more general and supports our school. Congratulations to Morgan Robertson on being selected to the South Central All-District Team! We are so proud of you and all your hard work!
The high school football team will begin practice on August 3rd at 5:00 pm. We are trying to build our numbers and are encouraging parents to encourage their students to come try a few practices and see what they think. Players, with a parent signature, needs to have a concussion form filled out and turned into the school. Participants also need a physical exam completed every 13 months so please be checking to make sure physicals are up to date. Coach Whitlow is also looking for student managers and volunteer assistant coaches who have their coaching endorsement. If interested or have any questions please contact him at 641-895-4643. IHCC Tech Prep Sessions for Incoming Students
Indian Hills Community College is offering Tech Prep sessions to help students feel more confident and prepared before beginning IHCC classes this fall.
These sessions will be held August 11–19 and are designed to help students:
Navigate IHCC's online platforms
Download and set up the apps they'll need for classes
Get questions answered before the semester begins
While these sessions are intended primarily for students who are new to IHCC classes or new to online learning, all IHCC students are welcome to attend.
Important Information:
Students must bring their school-issued Chromebook to the session.
Seymour CSD plans to have devices ready for IHCC students to pick up during school registration on August 6.
Sessions will be offered in Centerville and on both Ottumwa campuses.
Enrollment is limited to 40 students per session to ensure adequate staff support.
Pre-registration is required.
Each session is scheduled for 75 minutes, but students may leave once they have everything they need or stay longer if they need additional assistance.
Please see the attached handout for session dates, locations, and registration information.

Our state-accredited online program is open to all K–12 Iowa students and offers flexible learning options designed to fit your family's needs.

Please note: Virtual learning is not a great fit for all students. Before committing to this learning platform, please thoughtfully consider your child's organizational skills, responsibility, and level of commitment, as well as your ability to support them throughout their learning.
