Meet Mr. Denny Whitlow!
He's entering his 5th year at Seymour as our High School Social Studies Teacher and Head Football Coach.
With past experience at North Mahaska and Moravia, Mr. Whitlow is excited for the upcoming football season and to see the positive changes Mr. Moran brings to improve the school and its culture.
Why does he love Seymour? "The small class sizes and family atmosphere."

The Seymour CSD staff have been hard at work in trainings getting ready for the new school year! We can't wait for our students to join us next week!

We’re excited to introduce Miss Ali Enright as our new 3-year-old preschool teacher! Miss Ali is no stranger to Seymour CSD — she has been a valuable part of our team for the past two years, serving as our full-time substitute. This year marks her first official year in the classroom, and we’re thrilled to have her lead our youngest learners!
Miss Ali is looking forward to meeting her new preschoolers and spending the year learning, growing, and having fun together. Her favorite part of working at Seymour CSD is the opportunity to work with students and build meaningful relationships with them.

DROP-OFF REMINDERS
Parents using the bus lane on the west side of the building should stay in their car during drop-off. Please follow the directions of staff during drop-off and pick-up so we can keep everyone safe and the process running smoothly.

We apologize for the delay in our Staff Spotlights—but we’re back and excited to shine a light on the incredible educators at Seymour CSD!
Next up is Mrs. Carrie McFadden, our wonderful 1st grade teacher!
Mrs. McFadden began her 25-year career in education as an assistant teacher at a preschool in Colorado Springs, CO. She worked her way up to a lead teaching position and eventually became the center’s director. During that time, she also taught English at Pikes Peak Community College.
Her teaching journey continued at Buckeye Elementary School in Buckeye, AZ, where she taught 4th grade, 2nd grade, and 1st grade before joining us here at Seymour.
As the 2025–26 school year begins, Mrs. McFadden is looking forward to meeting her students and their families. She finds great joy in building relationships with each child, saying that getting to know her students is one of the greatest pleasures of teaching.
When asked about what she loves most about teaching, Mrs. McFadden shared that it’s hard to choose just a few highlights—but one of her greatest joys is watching students who start the year as brand-new learners grow into confident readers and mathematicians by spring.
Mrs. McFadden loves working at Seymour CSD because it reminds her of her own upbringing in a small town in southwest Iowa. Though she’s taught in large districts and lived in big cities, those experiences only deepened her appreciation for the close-knit, supportive environment of a small community. Teaching in Seymour has given her the opportunity to help children grow and learn in a school that feels like an extension of family.
